The art of non-ferrous metal casting using "cire Perdue" or "the lost wax technique", one of the most ancient but advanced process of casting metals, has produced one of the finest art forms in the world, the Dokra or the Dhokra art. For the last 4500 years (since the Mohenzodaro civilization) it has been in the bloodstream of Indian life, tradition, culture and heritage. It is named after the traditional metalsmiths of West Bengal, the Dhokra Damar tribes.
